Hemp Extension Meetings and Hemp Connections
2/2/20 – I am receiving many inquiries about hemp educational programs that are close by, don’t require an overnight stay, don’t cost a lot of money to attend, and are not being offered by someone trying to sell something. Well, there are quite a few extension programs coming up in the next few months that are all about hemp or include hemp in the programming. They are low cost or free; provide unbiased, research-based information; and one might be near where you are located. I have posted all of them that I am aware of in the Events listings at the top of the NC State Extension Hemp website.
I am also getting lots of questions about where to buy seeds and clones, where to post hemp equipment for sale, who might be hiring in the hemp industry, and where to post NC grown hemp for sale. Our Hemp Connections page on the NC State Extension Hemp website has all that and more! This is free classifieds ad service designed to help NC hemp growers. I try to update it daily. There is also a Planting Sources page. And while you are on the website, check out all the other great information our Extension specialists and agents have posted for you.
People are also asking about whether we are going to hold any hemp field days on the research stations in 2020. Yes, we are. Right now I know that there will be a hemp only field day at the Piedmont Research Station in Salisbury, a hemp and hops field day at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Mills River, and hemp will be included in a field day at the Mountain Research Station in Waynesville. There will probably be more, but those are the ones I am aware of at this time. I will put them on the NC State Extension Hemp website when the dates are finalized, but the best way to stay informed about the field days and all of our news updates is to subscribe to our NC Extension updates. To do that, view our subscription page and click on the NC Industrial Hemp News (and any others that look interesting to you!).
